Important results from the project
The aims of the project was to develop smart research equipment and start up a larger industrial cooperation in condition monitoring , as well as to further develop a number of more technical methods for condition monitoring and control of smart machines. During the project, several new companies expressed interest in the cooperation around the subject smart machines. The project group now consists of, apart from Luleå University of Technology, different industries and many different sensor technologies for condition monitoring have also been developed in the project.
Expected long term effects
During the project several industries other than the original industrial partner, SKF, has been involved in the research, and these are now planning how to continue the research in this area. Research results from the project have been presented at international conferences and in scientific journals and two licentiate theses were presented within the project, and one PhD student has also finished his studies and defended his thesis within the project. Several students will also take a licentiate or doctoral degree in subsequent years. Several patents have also been filed.
Approach and implementation
The project has been implemented in the form of a center where three departments at the university have collaborated with the industry partners to cover several multidiciplinary areas of expertise as well as industrial sectors and applications. Most of the work has been carried out as a PhD projects focusing on theoretical and laboratory tests. In addition, some field tests have been conducted to validate the function in real industrial applications.
