Purpose and goal
The project goal has been to develop a smart communication device to link a standard taximeter to TaxiCaller´s smartphone based dispatch system. Doing so TaxiCaller can offer a totally integrated dispatching system at a very competitive price point. All functional goals of the project has been achieved and working prototypes have been manufactured. Minor modifications are needed before the product can be put to market. Launch is expected in first quarter 2016.
Results and expected effects
A great interest for the product has been shown by TaxiCaller´s existing customers. TaxiCaller expects to have at least 1000 unit running in the first half of 2016. As a result TaxiCaller expects is total offering to be much more attractive to larger taxi fleets.
Approach and implementation
TaxiCaller has carefully analyzed the needs of taxi companies with regards to reporting and communication. A specification detailing the products functionality was developed. From the specification a circuit board has been designed and prototypes manufactured. Wth prototypes at hand all the functionality has been verified. In parallel to this the embedded software has been developed. The fully functional prototype has then been tested for radio emission.
