Important results from the project
The project has developed a temperature logger (smart label) for temperature monitoring within the pharmaceutical supply chain. The purpose of the project was to verify that the technology is robust and scalable. But also to verify the market need and to transfer the technology to a product owner. The project has demonstrated that the product has been able to be industrialized and that these units also have a higher robustness and performance than before. Furthermore, the market needs have been validated and the project´s overall assessment shows good potential for the product.
Expected long term effects
The positive project result shows that many of the expected results were met. The most obvious was the outcome for simulation of serial production as well as the continuous transfer of knowledge to product owners conducted during the project. Several, partly unforeseen, technical challenges emerged during the course of the project, including increasing the physical flexibility of the label as well as maintaining its original size. The verification of the market need was, in many respects, expected with the addition of an increased understanding of the increasingly price pressure.
Approach and implementation
The project used an agile method with an iterative development approach with the exception of certain parts within the production line. The project team had scheduled follow-up meeting once a week to follow up on deliverables and potential challenges/risks. Furthermore, joint workshops and physical meetings were organized as needed. The chosen method and method of assessment were considered good considering the results of the project. Further analysis indicates that the project could have established more sub-goals to keep track on the overall project goals.
