Purpose and goal

The project gave the VINNMER fellow academic qualifications towards an associate professor position, increased her leadership skills, facilitated for her to take leading positions within research, and enlarged her network within academia, governments and industry. The leadership has evolved through education and practice in leading positions. This project has strengthened the network between FOI and Linköpings Universitet, and developed both parties national and inter-national network. Development of the collaboration is under discussion.

Results and expected effects

The VINMER fellow worked as a senior scientist, by own scientific publications and as a peer review, participated in research applications, and developed/taught in a PhD course. She supervised MSc thesis works. She was invited speaker to three conferences, is a member of the SECURITY-LINKs steering committee since 2012 and a scientific leader at FOI since 2012. The VINNMER fellow is ready to apply for a deputy research director position, and later on also an associate professor position. She has a large network within network within academia, governments and industry in Europe.

Approach and implementation

It has been easy to switch between working placed every week, as they are placed geographically close (i.e., no extra travel time). The leadership development was prioritized during the project, which decreased the time for own publications. To facilitate experience in PhD student supervision, a collaborative project was needed. Funding for that type of project was not found during the time of the VINMER project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
