Important results from the project
DANSiC AB has developed a sensor system with gas sensors, electronics and software which, equipped with only one sensor, has potential to selectively give information about e.g. several different hydrocarbons at very low levels. This is important since many hydrocarbons are dangerous for health already at very low concentrations in the ambient. WHO estimates that air pollution today constitutes the highest risk effect for health in the world. Indoor (we spend 90% of our time indoors) the air furthermore contain up to 50% more of dangerous pollution as compared to the out door air.
Expected long term effects
DANSiC´s unique sensor system is robust and cheap, also distributed sensor control is possible. The sensor system enables many applications related to control of indoor environment in public and private sector but also in industry. Since e.g. the ventilation system may be controlled when needed with DANSiC´s sensor system, high air quality can continuously be guaranteed to a low price and with low energy consumption. This new sensor system will give good business opportunities for DANSiC AB.
Approach and implementation
DANSiC has developed unique electronics and software for the gas sensor. The sensor system has been tested together with collaboration partners and found to function well. In order to use data processing to establish algorithms which makes the sensor detect selectively e.g. several hydrocarbons, good reference for these molecules is required. We intend to use gaschromatograf - mass spectrometer as the reference in a new collaboration. This will give DANSiC the possibility to gain considerably better results than offered from today´s existing commercial chemical sensor companies.
