Funding from Vinnova SEK 9 151 000
Project duration September 2012 - September 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of Sendsmart has been to develop, test and demonstrate innovative services and systems, that are internationally attractive, for sustainable urban freight transport, within the areas of goods distribution, waste management and construction logistics. Investigations of suitable projects as well as development of demonstration projects have been performed within all three work packages together with evaluation and visualisation activities.

Results and expected effects

Lindholmsleveransen has been developed and Stadsleveransen has been started, resulting in improved transport efficiency. For construction logistics, a virtual market place has been introduced and tested, and, alternative transport operations with barges has been investigated and concluded efficient. Result of off-hour waste management test shows that it isn´t the vehicle that constitutes the highest noise, but the equipment, and, that working conditions for drivers improved.

Approach and implementation

The project was conducted during 2012 to 2014 with 19 partners in Gothenburg. Three work packages (WP) have handled each demonstration respectively, one WP handled evaluation and one WP has had visualisation and dissemination as its purpose. A result of the project shows that cooperation between projects as well as between WPs is hard. Cooperation is necessary to reach overarching aims with sustainable development and the process needs to involve stakeholders and step-by-step implementation.
