Purpose and goal

Product development goals were reached, with apps for android and iPhone, a secure data-storage solution and a healthcare interface developed. Regulatory work including risk analysis, documentation plan and medical classification of the product concept have been performed. The prototype is being evaluated in a large clinical study. A suitable reimbursement model for the concept has been defined in the new business plan that has been built with a dynamic structure to allow for different scenarios

Expected results and effects

The Vinnova project has enabled early development that takes regulatory and judicial aspects into account as well as interface and clinical usefulness. Experiences gained during the project about emerging digital health opportunities are invaluable moving forward. With new experiences and contacts in conjunction with a sound IP strategy Medituner are now in a prime position to take Asthmatuner to commercial release.

Planned approach and implementation

The Vinnova project was managed by Medituner. The main collaboration partner was Softronic AB that developed the software. Other components include business and regulatory consultant services. Originally the plan was to evaluate the prototype in a smaller user validation study but with the aid of some additional external funding this was converted to a large clinical study that will enable CE marking of Asthmatuner.
