Reference number
Coordinator SAAB Aktiebolag - Aeronautics
Funding from Vinnova SEK 366 138
Project duration June 2017 - February 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal has been to focus on how the future transport system will be developed to generate societal benefits how it can be safe, simple, reliable, environmentally friendly and cheap using modern and future technologies and also to strengthen international competitiveness in terms of demand, exports and market share within the related innovation areas.

Expected results and effects

The main proposals are: We propose a multiannual investment in research/innovation within the field of autonomous multimodal travel and transport We propose an integrated digital and physical test bed for large scale system-of-system-simulations We propose the establishment of policy labs within the area of autonomous multimodal travel and transportation where the relevant actors can explore and develop new policies, rules and legislation. We propose an expanded effort to create a communication and information model for multimodal travel and transport

Planned approach and implementation

The work has been conducted as a series of workshops which has included actors from all parts of the triple helix - business, university and government agencies - including all different traffic types as well as representatives from the communications sector. The task has been regarded as a change process, where the present situation has been compared with a desired position which has revealed a number of challenges, which are to be adressed by the proposed initiatives on national research and innovation in autonomous multimodal travel and transport.
