Important results from the project

The aim is to promote and extend the ability of the elderly to live at home. Objectives: - A developed and evaluated platform for informal caregivers in the care of the elderly. - A development plan for the dissemination of the results. Fulfillment Platform and services have been developed to user requirements collected from elderly, informal caregivers and formal caregivers. A company has been established for commercializing the project results.

Expected long term effects

The technical development has been carried out in three iterations and the results have been evaluated in technical testing and user trials. The three target groups, the elderly, informal and formal care givers can obtain the benefits that simplify self-care and ADL and relieves family members and formal caregivers in the care of the elderly at home. User tests show that the solution contributes to the project purpose and has potential to contribute to realization of the benefits. The tests also show the solution´s shortcomings and what features should be given priority over others.

Approach and implementation

The project was implemented in three iterations where the solution developed gradually. The advantages of the arrangement was to quickly get feedback between user requirements, technical solution and test results. It also meant that most deliverables were developed in three stages. The downside was that some parts of the technical solution, such as architecture and choice of standards, needed to be established in its entirety from the start. We also had a fairly open view of the distribution of development work which led to some partners took on too much responsibility.
