Purpose and goal

The deterioration of health has a major influence on the quality life of the seniors: the progressive loss of independence in older people can be expressed through isolation (20% of older people live alone), mobility difficulties and multi-morbidity. The aim of SAAPHO´s healthcare services is the provision of support to the user to follow the health condition regularly. The healthcare services of SAAPHO that will provide support to the user in his daily-life activities related to the self-care are: blood pressure, physical activity, blood glucose, weight and healthcare advisor.

Results and expected effects

Örebro Uni. role is to contribute with the provision of different health parameters (i.e. Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Weight and Activity) and services. Health services in SAAPHO are real time feedback generation service, historical summary calculation service and recommendation generation service are used. We have led the integration of the sensors (commercial devices) to the SAAPHO software infrastructure, and led the analysis of the health data.

Approach and implementation

Three prototypes: year1prototype (Y1P), year2prototype (Y2P), year3prototype (Y3P) are developed. In Y1P, a simple demo prototype has been implemented. In Y2P, 2 parameters, i.e. blood pressure and activity and in Y3P, 4 parameters i.e. blood pressure, blood glucose, weight and activity monitoring are implemented; In Y3P, 7 classes of weekly recommendations are implemented that inform users about their conditions. The Y1P prototype was tested in Spain (n=5) and Slovenia (n=5); Y2P was tested in Spain (n=20) and Slovenia (n=20); Y3P is tested in Spain (n=3) and Slovenia (n=3).
