Project duration November 2013 - June 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to develop a new, efficient, simulator training to increase emergency drivers risk awareness in traffic and thereby creating a behavioural change. By working with modern pedagogics, entertainment and clear efficiency targets, we have created a product that clearly affects the driver´s thinking and behaviour regarding hazards in traffic. In addition, the effectiveness of the educations can be substantially increased. Please visit Roadsafetytrainer.eu for more info

Results and expected effects

The result is an innovative product that increases driver risk awareness. The training can now be more effective since the software allows an increased number of participants, still with proper teacher-led coaching of drivers. The expected outcome is a reduced risk-taking, increased patient´s comfort and reduced accident rates. Preliminary studies show that this is achieved.

Approach and implementation

Discussions and analysis has been done together with driving instructors for a manageable and pedagogically correct training. Simulations training need to have a good ´look & feel´, this is the key to the product´s success. Therefore we have also put a lot of work in the graphics and the handling of the vehicle. The execution of the project worked well, due to a good knowledge in simulations and pedagogics thus the process has been relatively smooth.
