Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project has been to further develop a system to mark microscope slides and tissue cassettes used at cancer diagnostics laboratories. The project managed to transform the prototype into a final product which can be manufactured in small series. The company has developed processes to handle the in- and out flow of resources and information by involving the customers and suppliers right from the beginning of the design process. Both of them have put high expectations on the project and this has helped to achieve the majority of the goals with very good results.
Results and expected effects
A final product has been developed and several technical details, which had been implemented in the previous prototype, have been reviewed together with the customers. A PCT patent application was submitted while the process with the Swedish patent application has been going forward. The officer in charge of the process came back with several questions which were answered and a very positive signal about the possibility to grant the patent was given. A part of the documentation required for market introduction has been produced. This includes CE technical file and user manuals.
Approach and implementation
The company used internal resources for technical development. Customers and suppliers visits helped completing the development. Issues related to intellectual property rights have been handled with the a patent office. Regulatory requirements have also been further investigated with the help of consultants. The company joined Medicon Valley Alliance, an international organisation for life-science companies. A qualified business advisor from Teknopol followed up the company with business related issues. Medeon Science Park has also contributed with advice and resources.
