Important results from the project
The project focuses on strategies to sense and respond to extreme demand variations and resulting production volume variations in production systems. The research questions relate to why extreme variations occur, how they can be handled (strategies), how different business models obstructs or enables the strategies, how tactical planning processes can be designed to handle the variations, and what areas for future research are relevant. The project is grounded in theories on risk management, production strategy and production flexibility, tactical planning.
