Purpose and goal
The purpose of this study was to develop solutions and systems to take advantage of the residual energy available in the energy-intensive industries and in the local district heating network. Can the industry, community and food manufacturers be made to interact at local venues, investment and energy used in a more cost effective manner. The result of the study is a good basis for further work to develop a test bed.
Results and expected effects
The pilot study has resulted in the accumulation of knowledge and networking which can serve as a base for the construction of a testbed. If testbed proves successful concept will be applied in several municipalities in the country, which may allow a local food production and thus reduce shipments from other countries and utilize the surplus heat which is currently not used.
Approach and implementation
In the project has the potential for waste heat exchange investigated by carrying out a comparative life cycle assessment. An overview of possible techniques has been produced. To investigate the possibility of realizing the project an interview study was conducted with a view to identifying the main barriers, drivers and success factors of the concept. The project has also developed a draft of a possible agreement model.
