Project duration February 2015 - November 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose and goal of this project is manifold: (1) to achieve professional and academic qualifications for the project leader. (2) to establish a solid working relationship with furnace manufactures for future research collaboration. (3) to investigate how low pressure carburizing (LPC) can enable more resource- and energy efficient heat treatment of steel components in the industry. The project leader has made accomplishments in relation to all these project goals. For instance, discussions with a Swedish university is on-going for academic affiliation.

Expected results and effects

The project leader and his home organisation, Swerea IVF, have increased their knowledge on low pressure carburizing. At the same time the interest from Swedish industry for this technique has increased. The project leader have contributed three conference proceedings and started work on two more, which will be presented in 2017.

Planned approach and implementation

The project leader have completed a research project on low pressure carburizing as well as done career development. The project leader have attended four international conferences and contributed work at three of these.
