Purpose and goal

The aim of the competition is to stimulate researchers to participate in a dialogue with the outside world, increase public interest in research and the research profession, pay attention to the various actors on the importance of scientists communicate their research and ultimately contribute to more contacts and meetings between scientists and the world will permission. The competition also aims to provide the research communications higher status and more attention, as well as to show the breadth of Swedish research.

Expected results and effects

A total of 33 researchers, 55 percent women and 45 percent men participated in the regional competitions. In the finals three women and four men competed. Regional competitions were attended by about 1000 people, the finals about 350. Researchers´ Grand Prix was mentioned in the media a total of 37 times until December 31st 2018. The contest received high ratings in the evaluations, both among the participating researchers and visitors.

Planned approach and implementation

Sex regional competitions took place as part of the science festival ForskarFredag, September 28, financed by the respective local organizer. In addition, a digital competition was organized, open for all researchers. The winners of the competitions met in the final in Stockholm on 29 November, which was organized jointly by the four research councils and the VA.
