Renewable Transportation Fuels for Global - Platform f3 stage 2

Reference number
Coordinator Stiftelsen Chalmers Industriteknik
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 210 000
Project duration August 2016 - January 2019
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The purpose has been to contribute to favorable conditions for Swedish industry and research organisations to participate in EU funded research and innovation projects, within the area of renewable transportation fuels. As a result, Sweden also contributes to an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable transition of the transport sector and the bioeconomy on a global level. The purpose is met by increased Swedish involvement within the EU and by contributing to various planning and steering documents, such as the implementation of bioenergy within the SET-plan.

Expected long term effects

The project influenced future work programs and calls within EU R&I-programs, in a way that facilitates Swedish participation in R&I-projects in the area of renewable transportation fuels. Especially, the project contributed to the development and prioritization of the EU research and innovation programs post 2020, by actively contributing to e.g. the SET-plan development. Other strategically important effects include a strengthened role for Swedish actors within the ETIP Bioenergy as well as strengthened Nordic cooperation and Swedish knowledge about relevant EU processes.

Approach and implementation

The project was led by Chalmers Industriteknik, as host of the Swedish Knowledge Centre for Renewable Transportation Fuels (f3). f3 has, as a broad national centre, provided anchoring amongst Swedish actors. A working Group, consisting of project leader and representatives for the f3 partners, has been responsible for project implementation. Actual activities have then been adapted after current processes within the EU, such as the development of REDII and new work programs within the Horizon 2020. On EU-level, f3 has mainly collaborated with the European platform ETIP BIoenergy.
