Project duration April 2016 - December 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to create sustainable structures for innovation in the public sector. The goal is to spread service design and user driven development to several municipalities and for the organisations to converge on mutual challenges. The municipality of Oxelösund was hoping to reach better results through the inflow of experiences between municipalities. The goal and purpose has been achieved because several municipalities have participated and the networking has enabled the work to continue during 2017.

Expected results and effects

During the process the participants got familiar with service design and user driven innovation. The work resulted in new services and solutions to the challenges that were addressed. Also, it resulted in deeper knowledge about how the target group perceives our organisations. The work will continue in 2017 in collaboration with the county council and FoU Sörmland. The project has addressed a number of challenges in our traditional way to lead and organise municipalities. We will continue to address those challenges and work towards a more trust based leadership.

Planned approach and implementation

9 groups, from three different municipalities in the region of Sörmland, have participated in the service design process to address different challenges in their organisations. We met the groups for 6 common workshops during different phases of the process. The groups were trained in service design methods and they performed research and tests in their organisations. The work resulted in several innovations that addressed the challenges. During the process the groups learned how their patients or customers perceive the services they provide.
