QuizRR Digital Education for Thailand - Prototype och Pilot

Reference number
Coordinator QUIZRR AB - QUIZRR AB, STOCKHOLM
Funding from Vinnova SEK 660 000
Project duration November 2017 - November 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project has successfully delivered a fully functioning digital training solution with the three prioritised modules Employment Practices, Workplace Policies and Workplace Dialogue, and available in Thai, Burmese and Khmer. 10 factories in the Thai food sector - included the largest in the country - are engaged and prepared to implement a production version of the tool starting in late November 2018. The training offers a particular focus to support migrant workers, and as well promotes the role of women in the organisation.

Expected results and effects

Within 2018/2019, the training is expected to reach 10,000 to 20,000 workers, approximately 80% of which are migrant workers. The training is expected to help both workers and factory management identify the roots of exploitation embedded within migrant worker recruitment and work toward prevention and remediation. The new training has already attracted the attention of large producers and brands in other sectors facing similar challenges in Thailand, and thus, the potential impact of the training shows promising potential to spread in the coming years.

Planned approach and implementation

Overall, the project followed relatively closely to the schedule, albeit with some delays primarily related to the challenges of arranging the shooting of the training films with actors from three countries and combining their native languages. These challenges also pushed the costs of film production somewhat higher than anticipated, and even more so, the costs for translations, dubbing, quiz question voice-over and linguists for testing exceeded initial estimates. Nonetheless, the total cost landed within ca 13% of original estimate.
