Important results from the project
The purpose of the QSkruv project has been to strengthen the Swedish automotive industry and its Swedish subcontractors in an increasingly global competition. The project brings together participants from the Swedish automotive industry and some of its largest Swedish subcontractors to collaborate with Swerea to create improved processes for design, testing, verification and assembly of screw joints. The need for dissemination of knowledge in the field is large and in order to make the results available, they will be publicly accessible on the SFN website www.sfnskruv.se
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in a number of suggestions on test methods and documents to be used as the basis for common standards as well as a web-based tool. - Testmethod for interface friction. - Test method for settling properties of paint. - Test method for assembly friction for surface-treated fasteners. - List of commonly accepted nomenclature - Recommendations for the selection of assembly and verification methods - Interactive guide for design, assembly and verification of screw joints published on the SFN website www.sfnskruv.se . - Strengthened cooperation between the parties.
Approach and implementation
The Project included 3 work packages where companies and institutes collaborated: 1. Test methods for measuring interface friction and measurements in painted joints. 2. Test methods for assembly friction, common nomenclature and development of assembly and verification methods. 3. Web-based tools for practical and pedagogical assistance to designers and service personnel. The project also organized an international conference with 60 participants in Gothenburg, 4-5 October, 2017. The project´s 12 steering group meetings had a high presence and good spirit of cooperation.
