Protection of aircraft engines against particles (incl. volcanic ash)

Purpose and goal

Air traffic problems due to volcanic ash have shown the need to detect particles in aero engine air intake. The project is a short and innovative project with the aim to find solutions to this problem. The project will investigate the possibilities to detect particles and how the aero engine should handle the problem with particles in the air intake. The expected results from the project are study reports with review of potential technologies and concept proposal.
