Important results from the project

PRYSTINE´s had the overall objective of developing fault-tolerant perception systems to enable safe personal autonomous driving, with technical objective such as improving cost-efficient system architectures. KTH´s part has focused on system architecture, variant management and dynamic risk management. The set goals have been achieved at the same time as new research questions have been identified. One such focus is the realization that greater emphasis needs to be placed on the vehicle´s collaboration and support from an intelligent infrastructure.

Expected long term effects

The project has helped to establish the Mechatronics research group as one of the leading in dependable autonomous vehicles. The outcome includes invited talks (> 10), participation in international initiatives (eg in "The Autonomous”), 4 doctoral dissertations (2 completed, 2 soon to be completed), 15 scientific publications, development of a test bed - AD-EYE, and finally introduction of results in education at KTH The project has also led to new collaborations, research projects, and synergies with other research initiatives, specifically the competence center TECoSA.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The consortium has included 60 project partners from 14 countries, including vehicle builders, subcontractors, electronics companies, research institutes and universities. The results have been validated in a number of demonstrators, from fault-tolerant platforms for autonomous driving as well as trucks and cars. These use cases and demonstrators have formed an important integral part of the work. Another integral part has been co-authored research studies.
