Project duration November 2014 - April 2015
Status Completed
Venture Strategic innovation programme for process industrial IT and automation – PiiA

Purpose and goal

Both the purpose and the project objectives have been met. We have been able to test and evaluate how an IoT infrastructure can be created and all the project objectives are met.

Results and expected effects

The study has led to the following results: - A consortium has been formed that intends to develop a supply chain platform where IoT and cloud-based data storage become key components. - The installation, which was made at the pilot mill will be commercialized after an evaluation period. - New multisectoral partnerships have been established. - A proposed architecture and a demonstator how the industry can use IoT and make data available through cloud services to external parties and how the industry can benefit from this.

Approach and implementation

The project´s approach has been to examine in practice how an IoT infrastructure can be built up and developed a prototype and a demonstrator that shows how data can be collected, made available to various stakeholders and how the industry can benefit from this. The approach has been very successful and provided valuable information about how an IoT-platform can be built up and what challenges there are.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
