Important results from the project

To develop methods and models for prediction of die conditions in press hardening.

Expected long term effects

A simulation model for prediction of wear and geometry changes of the press hardening tool have been developed. Two methods for monitoring product geometry and die conditions have been evaluated. Tool enhancements/coatings have been investigated.

Approach and implementation

The project consortium has included Volvo Cars and Gestamp HardTech as industrial partners and divisions of Solid Mechanics and Machine Elements at Luleå University of Technology and Swerea IVF as academic partners. The project has included one Ph.D. student at Luleå University of Technology.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
