Important results from the project

The aim of the initiation phase has been to lay the foundations for a national civil society plattform with the purpose to 1) match asylum seekers and new arrivals´ social and legal needs with existing support structures and 2) ensure that asylum seekers and new arrivals are heard. During the project period, we have established and strengthened a network of relevant civil society actors, asylum seekers & new arrivals, public sector and business and mapped the issues the target group faces and available support.

Expected long term effects

We have established a network of relevant civil society actors and asylum seekers & new arrivals and captured the issues that the target group faces. We have also established a network with the public and private sectors and mapped out the support structures that exist for asylum seekers today. In addition, we have gathered input from asylum seekers and new arrivals themselves. Our expected effects are that this will allow us to launch our idea of a civil society platform within the framework of Stage 2 and Stage 3.

Approach and implementation

The initiation phase has largely followed the plan we presented in our proposal. Through meetings, interviews, a survey, workshops, seminars and roundtables, we have gathered the information we need to move forward with our idea. The implementation has also resulted in a stronger collaboration between participating actors and contributed to a greater understanding of what needs to be done.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
