Purpose and goal

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The goal of the proposal was to understand how IoT can increase the quality of spatial planning. The project has helped to increase the understanding of what is required of the organization to be able to use IoT in an efficient and value-creating way. To achieve benefit and value, collaboration between functions, from IT infrastructure to street maintenance, but also governance, finance and follow-up, is required. The use of IoT must boil down to well-founded priorities of resources. Concrete benefits as a result of IoT are not primarily an IT issue.

Expected results and effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project has resulted in both a learning process and a concrete report. The report contains, among other things, a step-by-step way forward. It is a springboard for the municipality´s continued work with digitalisation and IoT as support for the planning process. Thus, the outcome is also partly deviating from the expected effects, and shows the complexity of achieving greater overall benefits than costs in implementing IoT solutions. The real benefit comes if the municipality takes in the rather harsh conclusions that the feasibility study gives.

Planned approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Internal anchoring and enthusiasm is vital, but difficult to create among stakeholders at an early stage. Aswell as visualizing how a different way of working can potentially improve the outcome. Stakholders are more interested in a finished product that fits their needs today. In order to get a good mapping of needs and benefits, great consideration is required regarding the structure and method. As well as respect for the fact that this is a maturation process and de-prioritization of work tasks today for a potential benefit in the long run.
