PiiA Academy

Purpose and goal

The main purpose of PiiA Academy has been to identify and initiate activities that can strengthen the skills supply system of the PiiA area. The purpose has been fulfilled through: 1. The development of a website for education collaboration, Academy, and 2. The development of a workshop format, Digital Capabilities Forum. However, to fulfil the purpose completely Academy needs to be taken into use at a national level. After having performed a pilot test of the site we concluded that the best idea is to do three installations of it, one for each of PiiA:s innovation hubs.

Expected results and effects

The main results of the project are: 1. An investigation of the skills supply system of the PiiA area and companies’ skills needs, 2. A webbsite for education collaboration, Academy, and 3. A workshop format, Digital Capabilities Forum, that has been used in 12 workshops. By having developed Academy and by having developed and diffused knowledge about digitalization, PiiA Academy has contributed to the development of environments, structures and activities that support skills supply and competence development for companies within the PiiA area and digitalization as a knowledge area.

Planned approach and implementation

PiiA Academy has been conducted in close cooperation with companies within the PiiA area. The results of the investigation of the skills supply system of the PiiA Area have been validated in workshops with companies. The 12 Digital Capabilities Forum that we have performed have had around 200 participants from companies that also have evaluated the format. The development of Academy has been done in cooperation with companies primarily in the Umeå region. We have developed different versions of the site that has been evaluated by them, and version 4 was pilot tested by three companies.
