Personal web meetings within government agencies

Reference number
Coordinator Försäkringskassan - Huvudkontoret Stockholm
Funding from Vinnova SEK 288 145
Project duration March 2014 - November 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project has developed a conceptual solution for how personal web meetings can be done in practice. Meetings will take place on citizens conditions. When customers can obtain joint help of the authorities, the need of supplements will reduce, the customer security will increase, and waiting times will be shortened. However, note that web conferencing requires that the state administration, among others, develop their ability to collaborate across existing boundaries. Thus, there are different parameters than the technique, to take in consideration in a future implementation

Results and expected effects

In the the solution that we propose, authorities and customers will be able to exchange information with each other in a safe manner and it is the customer who chooses how the first contact is made to the authorities. The solution will provide shorter lead times for customers and more efficient handover between authorities. More benefits of common web meetings are also increasing accessibility for more customer groups such as the disabled and of course, easier management of personal errands all the way from application to decision.

Approach and implementation

The project has worked with various scenarios to highlight the benefits to both customers and authorities having common web meetings. We have also developed various overall technical solutions, of which it proved to be only one which could in practice be feasible and attractive to several agencies. In an early stage the project contacted representatives from the Swedish Migration Board to exchange ideas about personal web meetings. To illustrate the legal aspects a lawyer from the Social Insurance participated and our IT department have looked at the technical solutions.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
