Purpose and goal

The aim of the project has been to create a solid structure for the regional innovation system for tourism, sport and outdoor. The goal has been achieved by Peak Innovation continuing as a national and internationally focused consultancy- and project function focusing on sports and outdoor, as well as a sports accelerator that is being built in Åre in 2020. The project has resulted in the decision to onward focus on the areas of performance and innovation, sustainability and market expertise sports & outdoor.

Expected results and effects

The result of the project is insight about the demand from sports and outdoor companies regarding Peak Innovation´s operations and function after the Vinnväxt period, as well as plans for continued operations with the selected focus areas and how to communicate them. Expected effects are that Peak Innovation can strengthen more companies´ ability of innovation and sustainability work - and thereby their profitability and competitiveness. Through its operations in Jämtland, the regional cluster around sports and outdoor continues to be strengthened.

Planned approach and implementation

The project´s plan has been to strengthen R&D alliances, coordinate and support innovation processes, support national and international applications, and strengthen development and innovation-promoting use of test environments. The thematic areas have been: - New technology, new materials and smart solutions for sports and outdoor life - Snow as a resource - innovations for secured access to snow - Information technology, digitalization and smart solutions for sustainable visits and events.
