Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to enable electrification of vehicle fleets in places where the electricity grid capacity is insufficient. The project has helped to further develop a concept where local electricity generation interacts with energy storage solutions. The results have been made available using various communication activities such as a seminar as well as personal meetings with stakeholders.

Expected results and effects

That available power grid effect can limit stakeholders such as public transport operators pursuit to electrify their vehicles is starting to spread. The solutions that have been evaluated within the project are of great interest to a number of organizations and there is a great interest in how an integrated solution, such as described in the project, will preform in real life.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was dived in in three steps. First, the power requirement for Uppsala´s new city bus depot was modeled on the basis of various scenarios regarding the total number of electric buses. Subsequently, a number of different solutions was evaluated (both regarding technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness) and adapted to the different scenarios. Finally, the results of the study have been disseminated to relevant stakeholders.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
