Purpose and goal
To develop a CE marked tooth & jaw spacer from existing prototype with a production method that can provide a gross margin of 50%.
Expected results and effects
The foundation for manufacturing a CE marked spacer is developed, though is the spread of perceptions and needs among customers wide spread and this in combination with clinical evidence and competitive products makes it challenging to launch this kind of product. The foundation for continued development is there for further progress but our judgement is that we cannot drive this any further.
Planned approach and implementation
The project has started with the protoype in clinical use at the University Hospital in Lund. The prototype has been presented to selected customers in the Nordic region for feedback and collection of market characteristics and perceptions. Different development methods has been discussed concerning material, costs and feasability and the foundation for ISO certification and CE marking has been done. The wide spread of existing solutions and perceptions among customers combined with a less solid statistical foundation demands a further development to reach a launchable product.
