Important results from the project
The goal of the project was to verify the market for Mercene Labs primer for making difficult substrates, such as melamine and recycled plastics composites, compatible with industrial acrylate coating systems.
Expected long term effects
The project has successfully verified the market to tune the gloss grades of printed melamine chip board using a acrylate coating, something that would not only lower the production cost but also increase flexibility of the surface finish. The project has taken the prototype and together with pilot customers developed it into a commercial product ready for the market.
Approach and implementation
The project initially tested the concept together with one pilot customer and then expanded vertically to other customers having the same need.
