Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
The project has the following aims and goals: - Further development of the methodology to produce safer and more reliable products at a lower cost from NFFP5-2010-01250. This is achieved since the methodology both is refined and made more applicable. - To strengthen a research area and establish a course at LiU within system safety. This is achieved since several papers have been written and a course will soon be given for the second time. - A doctoral degree for an industrial Ph.D. student. This goal is not yet fully achieved since the Ph.D. thesis is planned to be presented in December 2016.
Expected results and effects
The project has resulted in academic contribution consisting of a methodology uniting product development, system safety and optimization in a in a new way. Regarding industrial usefulness, the effects are still not measureable but useful results have been presented that can be used for concept selection for a subsystem. The system safety area is now represented at LiU since research have been strengthened and an undergraduate course has been established. At Saab, the project has resulted in a methodology supporting system safety work in early product development phases.
Planned approach and implementation
The project builds on NFFP5-2010-01250 which means that there was a basis to build on. Project management have been handled by Saab and one Ph.D. student have been working both at Saab and LiU. Project group meetings have been held at Saab and working meetings at LiU which has led to good cooperation between industry and university. The project has been delayed slightly due to that the Ph.D. student have had to work more at Saab than planned. All milestones have been achieved in time except that the presentation of the Ph.D. thesis will be performed after project closure.
