Purpose and goal

A service platform for medical image analysis has been realized during the course of the project. This demonstrator connects caregivers and image application companies via a number of links. Both old and new image analysis methods are thus made available in an effective way. New image analysis methods have also been identified.

Results and expected effects

The project has been successful in creating and evaluating a number of links that enables caregivers access to medical image analysis as a service on both a technical and a business level. The demonstrator is expected to enable existing as well as new medical image analysis services to reach caregivers faster and in a more cost effective way. The demonstrator is also expected to shorten the time-to-market and strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish SME companies and provide a fast lane to commercialization for research and start-ups.

Approach and implementation

The project was divided into a number of subprojects with different focus areas. The majority was aimed att broadly validating and evaluating the technical solution for the demonstrator platform. One subproject was aimed at investigating how new technology can be matched with current healthcare needs. This was accomplished by organizing a number of workshops. There was also a subproject aimed at defining a sound business model for the platform. The division into subprojects has worked good and lead to advances in many areas at the same time.
