Coordinator INKIT AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration December 2011 - December 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Inkit AB have performed a project with the aim to verify a new construction to an industrial valve jet printer. The goal was to make a full functional prototype with; - Cheaper material and shorter manufacturing time - Less parts - Longer life time - Less wear parts and new construction - Less problem with pigmented ink and corrosion - better ink flow - Able to print faster- better cooling, lighter parts and controllable electronics., We have developed a functional prototype according to the set goals but further development is needed in order to begin the production of a final product.

Results and expected effects

Inkit AB has, with this verification projects come a bit closer to the goal of offering a complete industrial printer. We have got confirmation that this will be a strong product. When we have completed the product, we will, with our partners, begin the launch to the market. This, along with that we have our own ink development and production, facilitate the marketing of the printer significantly. We have established contacts in several countries will allow us to get a good spread in several regions at relative short time. The economic potential and with this can only be estimated.

Approach and implementation

We had before the start of the project, an elaborate construction that would be verified, but even so, with feedback from practical tests, DFA analysis - Design For Assembly and suggestions for even better solutions, it was several hours of redesigning and manufacturing new features and overall parts. The refinement and development took significantly more time than planned. The project plan had to be revised several times. This development process is however entirely appropriate when the aim of the exercise is to identify problems and make improvements early in the development phase.
