Project duration May 2012 - December 2012
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal was to expand Demola East Sweden to include Linköping so that more programs could get involved in the concept. Today the project is active in Linköping and during the autumn of 2013 a draft of a common course, that will be open to students from all faculties, will be put forth. This course will make it possible for all students, regardless of what faculty they belong to, to apply to the course and projects in Demola East Sweden. This would result in the first course in the history of Linköping University that allows students from all faculties to study together in the same course.

Results and expected effects

After having finished the three pilot projects we are now estimating that approximately 70-80 students will apply to Demola projects for the autumn of 2013. Demola East Sweden offers the students 14 different projects from 10 unique idea owners. An additional two pilot projects will start in Linköping at the same time, some of which will include international students. Among the students whom participated in the pilot projects, several have been recruited by some of the idea owners. There have also been some company start-ups as a result of the pilot projects.

Approach and implementation

Knowledge and insights gained during the pilot projects and the participating students´ evaluations, thoughts and recommendations have been used to develop the concept for the autumn. There is also a complete program where the structures, handling of information and support in Demola East Sweden have been strengthen. This autumn Demola East Sweden also provides newly refurbished facilities that gives the students access to creative spaces, material and technology.
