Important results from the project
NCS Colour have developed a groundbreaking web portal that takes colour management in the production end into the digital world. The web portal enables colour communication with the world- leading Natural Colour System®© as its foundation and solves the problems that arise when a company is to communicate and control colour requirements for physical products with suppliers.
Expected long term effects
The web portal is a user-friendly system that allows not only technical staff but also design and marketing people to communicate colour easily with colour production technicians and the ability to review and approve colour production results. Companies can ensure that all suppliers regardless of measurement equipment produces identical colour on the company s products, shorten time to market for new products, improve efficiency, and reduce the need for physical transportation.
Approach and implementation
The project leader have made a customer survey and defined the user interface and usability. The project leader together with the R&D leader has developed the function and flow charts of the system. The R&D leader has also been responsible for programming, database development, algorithms and digital colour standards. Extensive testing of the system has also been made. The system was launched 1st November 2013.
