Important results from the project
The project has linked the innovation platforms in Borås, Gothenburg, Kiruna, Lund, Malmö and Stockholm in a collaborative process with the aim of building a common learning on management and organization of innovation. The collaboration project has successfully disseminated knowledge and experience both locally, regionally and nationally, and is an important learning for how innovation capacity can be built up and how innovation and systemic development can be carried out in the border between public sector, business, academia and civil society.
Expected long term effects
The project has shown how barriers can be turned into opportunities when capacity for working horizontally in and between organisations is developed. Based on practical experience, the project has developed a framework in five parts; understanding of complexity, relationship-building boundary spanners, culture of knowledge and learning, supportive and mobilizing structures, governance and co-creation. Two reports, including a strategic agenda and a research anthology on innovation and urban development, have been produced and disseminated through several seminars.
Approach and implementation
The organisation of meetings on themes such as policy labs, value creation, organizational culture, boundary spanners, leadership and horizontal organisation has been valuable and has contributed to the development of the local platforms. At the same time, there were major differences between the platforms´ objective, aim and approach, so it also became a challenge to meet specific needs. Not least when the project´s high level of ambition of knowledge integration, collaboration, business intelligence and impact on national level did not correspond to the projects budget.
