Venture Medtech4Health: Competence Enhancement in SME

Purpose and goal

The project aims to broaden Promimic AB´s technology to include products and offerings in traumatology. The objectives of this first part was to: 1. Prepare a draft clinical trial protocol to prove the technology´s potential in the patients. 2. Identify and tie an industrial partner to the project (customer) in order to co-develop a first product in traumatology. 3. Apply for continued funding of the project. All the targets are met.

Expected results and effects

Within the project we have developed a synopsis of a clinical trial protocol with all relevant parts of the study included. We have met a number of implant companies, which are potential customers. Two of the contacts have led to far-reaching discussions and in the time of writing, a co-development agreement is established with a larger, global implant company. We have applied to Swelife / Medtech4health for continued funding to conduct the clinical study, for which Promimic AB has agreed to counter finance.

Planned approach and implementation

Module 1 was implemented in cooperation with the orthopedic surgeons at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Together we developed a synopsis, we appointed a project team and a project plan for the implementation of the study was developed. Module 2 was implemented by packageing the project towards orthopedic implant companies focused on hip fractures. We visited the Orthopedic Traumatology Associasion´s annual meeting and had good meetings, both with the implant companies and key opinion leaders. Module 3 was conducted mainly by writing an application to Swelife/Medtech4health.
