Reference number
Coordinator INNVENTIA AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration July 2013 - March 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose and objectives are considered to be met for the project. The overall aim of the project was to get a better understanding of how the plant can be built and operated in a good way, which is something that we managed to achieve in this project. It has been important to work both with the technical questions and also gain a better understanding of how the business aspects can be handled in a good way.

Results and expected effects

The conducted pilot study indicates that it is possible to operate the plant in a sustainable way. The project will promote Innventia, significantly reduce the obstacle for industry to implement full scale nanocellulose processes and open up opportunities for universities and SMEs to test their ideas in full scale. Since Innventia have an extensive network both in industry and academia, we are able to interconnect partners that can benefit from collaborating with each other.

Approach and implementation

The idea with the project was to first carry out a technical feasibility study to ensure that it was possible to build the factory and to develop material that could be used in discussions with potential customers and partners. Parallel to this, a collaboration was also initiated with a board producer to get input on how the plant can be adapted to facilitate the mill integration. To increase interest in the project, the factory was marketed during client meetings and conferences. Overall, the companies we were in contact with showed a great interest in the project.
