Important results from the project
This project is about authoring parts of a textbook ´Modelling Transit Passenger Flows in the Era of ITS´ in a joint EU effort. The parts in question treat various forms of demand-responsive traffic and modeling of travel paths in demand transport combined with scheduled transport.
Expected long term effects
All chapters are complete including figures and references. Final editing is being made by the main book editor who is also negotiating with the publisher.
Approach and implementation
The descriptive chapter ´Forms of Public Transport´ includes descriptions of different forms of demand-responsive traffic such as Dial-a-Bus, Special Transport Services, Flexi-Bus, Taxi, Personal Rapid Transit and Shared Autonomous Vehicles. The modeling chapter describes methods and algorithms for route planning, empty vehicle management and combined choice of routes in mixed transit networks.
