Purpose and goal

The goal of the project is that the Swedish Red Cross enables social entrepreneurship and social innovation in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. We have developed a model of social innovations that contains methods and tools for social innovation, entrepreneurship and enterprise. The model is an incubator for social innovation and includes a concept of how to start och support local projects. With these tools we are able to contribute to local development and increase empowerment.

Results and expected effects

We have identified the need and capacity through local workshops and meeting with our target group. We have also met a number of key individuals, associations, organizations and institutions to collect information. We have developed a program in social entrepreneurship. The model contains: Recruitment of participants in collaboration with local partners. A program in social entrepreneurship based on Design Thinking. A mentoring program with mentors who support our community development projects A manual on social entrepreneurship

Approach and implementation

We have identified the need through meetings with our target group and interviews with a number of identified key individuals. Through local workshops, we have investigated the local need and developed a workshop to involve people in participating in our program. We have received feedback on the concept by forming a reference group with participants from the target group. In collaboration with local partners, associations and institutions, we have gained valuable information about past experiences and the current research.
