Important results from the project
The project will take the next step to develop flexible concepts for increased productivity in small-scale manufacturing with simplified and self-destructive robot programming as well as secure and flexible robotic cells without the fence following the Machinery Directive. The project is a continuation of the Vinn Nu 2 project, where a new world-wide mobile robot platform with patented docking systems was developed, launched and noted, among other things, winning the European Commission´s major innovation award 2015.
Expected long term effects
With OpiFlex Simple robot programming, the operator can self-program the robot in ten minutes without prior robot knowledge, instead of 2-3 hours by an expert. Profitable serial size can therefore be reduced by up to 90%. The solution is general. The non-fitting security solution complies with the rules for robot safety in EU regulations: machine directive 2006/42 / EC. This means you release the fence and offer full manual access to the machine. OpiFlex was honored 2016 for their solution as a finalist in the IERA Awards, Robot and Automation industry´s most prestigious award.
Approach and implementation
OpiFlex has a fantastic team of about half older with 30 years of experience in automation, and half young, talented people. Young and older, girls and boys, Swedes and foreigners. OpiFlex uses LEAN Product Development as a methodology focusing on Set Based Design. We are passionate about understanding the end user challenge and looking for the simplest and most flexible solution. We are looking for knowledge gaps and turning and turning on many different solutions to eventually find the best. We have been using security experts and listened a lot to our customers.
