Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to miniaturize StrainLabs AB sensor for measuring preload in bolts. The miniaturized sensor should be easy to mass produce and assemble in bolts of the types ISO 4014/4017 in strength classes 8.8, 10.9, 12.9 and A2 / A4-70 / 80 ISO 898-1 and ISO 3506-1. The sensor would should fit bolts of size M10. All aims has been met in all respects.
Expected long term effects
The result of the project is a preload measuring sensor that can generically be used in screw size M10 according to ISO 4014/4017 and ISO 898-1 / 3506-1. The outcome is that the first test installation at a customer site will take place in Q1 2017. Additional ten customers intending to buy M10 screws with sensor, when production has commenced.
Approach and implementation
The project´s design and implementation worked well and went according to plan. All project partners were able to carry out their tasks according to the planned time and cost. During tests of the sensor it was discovered that a structural change needed to be made. The change significantly extended battery life and thereby the sensors lifetime (which is a very strong customer value), it was decided that it would be implemented. Neither the time / cost of the project or the price of the end product was significantly affected.
