Purpose and goal
The purpose of this study is to create a synthesis of the knowledge and data available from different industrial actors together with the latest research in the field. The synthesis aims to identify the extent of problems associated with dust emissions, define the range of potential sources, and describe which parameters influence the emissions as well as pros and cons of different measures. The goal is for the participating industries to be able to identify technics, methods and share/gain knowledge that can be implemented into their daily operations to minimize their emissions.
Expected results and effects
The synthesis of knowledge will stimulate the dissemination of experience between the companies, both regarding methods that work and those that don’t. The project will result in a guide that can be used by all industries experiencing problems with diffuse dust emissions, as well as a document supporting decision making specifically aimed to help the industries involved in this project to find effective measures. Knowledge gaps identified during this project will give the opportunity to formulate new research questions and initiate efforts to fill these gaps.
Planned approach and implementation
An inventory of problems associated with dust emissions and how they are met by the participating companies will be conducted using a survey, interviews and in some cases visits to the industrial sites. Based on a literature study, connections between available methods and technologies and the participating companies´ problems will be made. A descriptive guide will be presented, containing a model over how to proceed when facing problems associated with dust emissions. During the project a workshop and a seminar will be organized in order to increase the exchange of knowledge.
