MaaSterplan Pre-study

Reference number
Coordinator Ericsson AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration March 2015 - December 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal of the pre-study is to define a concept and platform for combined mobility (´Mobility-as-a-Service´, MaaS) that is feasible for a successful implementation, including actor and business models and roadmap for implementation. This has by far been achieved. In December 2015, Ericsson announced a MaaS-platform for 2016 and UbiGo Innovation to re-launch it´s service. The companies will market the platform and service concept internationally.

Expected results and effects

The conclusions and roadmap for actors in the MaaS Eco-system of the study, together with a IT- and service platform based on hands-on experience from a successful pilot and proven tools from closely related industries, will contribute to a faster and successful implementation of MaaS, resulting in more sustainable cities and quality of life. The co-operation between an SME, a large international company and a leading institute will strengthen the export of service and dissemination of knowledge.

Planned approach and implementation

The pre-study has benefited from a fast growing international interest in MaaS. The work has been even more concrete and the parties have contributed with hands-on experience and analysis to the evolving MaaS- society. The final report comprises a market analysis and a description of the eco-system med conclusions for different actors from operators to enabling institutions and a roadmap that can be used as a basis for decisions leading to a successful implementation of MaaS in urban areas.
