Funding from Vinnova SEK 75 000
Project duration September 2013 - January 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

FOI intended to validate their ray tracing code XRAY benchmark cases defined by Penn State University - due to the matter that the benchmark case was found to contain ambiguities related to absorption and atmospheric data input it was during the project time found that it could not be used for final validation of XRAY.

Results and expected effects

See above.

Approach and implementation

For the future, in similar benchmark studies, it is suggested that a chain from a very simple case through a successive escalation towards a increased physical complexity is applied. Moreover it is suggested that the participants collectively defines the test cases.
