Purpose and goal
The project objective was to investigate the opportunities to a full scale project development of a CO2 lidar prototype, based on project participants´ competences related to the required subcomponents. Analysis of the IPR situation and the potential market was also addressed. The goal was achieved by analyzing all these aspects, with the conclusion that we currently do not see any motivation to proceed with the development of the intended product.
Results and expected effects
Within the scope of this feasibility study, the consortium has not identified any obstacles related to technical competence or the IPR situation. However, we could not identify any interests among the contacted end-users (steel and carbon capture and storage) which currently motivate development of the investigated product.
Approach and implementation
The investigation was shared between the parties with respect to expertise in laser technology (Cobolt AB), active fibers (Acreo Swedish ICT AB) and fiber grating writing (Proximion AB). The study included roughly equal parts theoretical work (literature / patent study and customer contacts) and experimental work (active fibers and gratings). Meetings were held every 14th day with protocols and continuously updated action points.
