Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project "Lead Patients - a new resource for health" has been to investigate the driving forces and competencies of active, engaged and knowledgeable patients and informal caregivers and what benefits can come from utilizing them better. The goal has been to establish a diagnostic-independent collaboration platform for these issues.

Expected results and effects

The most important insight we have made during the project is that no one is currently leading with a knowledge-based patient and family perspective at the system level. That is where we will focus the continued work. The Lead Patient movement will be supported by the newly started organization Forum Spetspatient. From a systems perspective, we see effects at several levels in the, both with focus on the individual healthcare encounter but also in developing the healthcare system with an active patient perspective.

Planned approach and implementation

To coordinate a project with so many partners and such a large geographical spread is a challenge and requires a flexible and dynamic approach. The large number of project partners has, however, been one of the most important features of the project. If we had not included such a wide range of partners, we would not have been able to reach as far as we did. Thanks to the positive attitude and constructive attitudes of the participants, together we have started a movement.
