Project duration November 2015 - June 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Mobile Stories wants to awaken students´ involvement and interest in community issues and integrate journalistic methods into daily education. In the project, we develop a publishing app and a media platform with which young people can intuitively create and publish their own articles while practicing in source-critical thinking. The school work thus creates a value in addition to being the assessment material for the teacher. The publishing system is now ready and has begun to be used by a number of schools.

Expected results and effects

We have conducted a first survey in collaboration with the two researchers following our project. It includes just over 100 students in our pilot municipality Huddinge. Since they have just started working with the app, we can not measure any effects yet. We are conducting a new survey with the same questions in a year and can then see what effects and results the work has given.

Planned approach and implementation

The development of the publishing system has been more complex than we initially realized. However, the difficulty of predicting the time the development requires is a natural element of the innovation process. In parallel with the development process, we have gained more knowledge of the needs and challenges of young people and teachers. In addition to the publishing system, we have also worked out a solid teaching material for students and teachers in our handbook and in our app. The challenges we address are becoming increasingly acute, confirming that we are absolutely right.
